A Complete System For The Electronic Collection, Management, and Transmission Of Fishing or At-Sea Scientific Data
 

Olfish is a multi-fishery, multi-species, highly customizable electronic reporting system, developed by OLRAC, which was specifically designed to address the complex data collection and fishery reporting requirements of modern commercial fishing operations. Olfish combines a sophisticated, yet easy to use, data logbook and reporting interface with a feature-rich GIS system.  Olfish is capable of collecting, analyzing, plotting, mapping, reporting, and transmitting all data related to fishing or at sea research operations.

The Olfish solution is modular, composed of the following components:

1. The Dynamic Data Logger (DDL) is an elegant stand-alone data logging (logbook), reporting, and mailing component. The Olfish Dynamic Data Logger can send any data in any format, meaning that Olfish can work with any existing infrastructure or database facilities and does not require any particular data storage platform.  The DDL can encrypt and authenticate (digitally sign) data reports.  The DDL saves data in XML format.
2. The Olfish Explorer is a DDL add on utility which offers the user sophisticated data extraction, analyzation and visualization tools.
3. The Fishing Consultant and Fleet Activities Optimiser are DDL add on tools which utilize the user's stored data to optimize future fishing performance and management of commercial fishing operations.
4. Additionally, Olfish has many smaller add-on utilities and features all designed to extract maximum value out of the data collected.  Olrac is constanting creating new utilities and offers utilities specifically designed for fishermen, fleet managers, fishery enforcement agents, and scientists.

Olfish can be used by in commercial and recreational fisheries for electronic fishery reporting (elogging), by onboard observers, company managers, fishery scientists, fishery managers and administrators.  In principle Olfish is not limted to the collection of fishing data only, and can be used for any vessel-based data collection activity.

Olfish is used by vessels in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, North America and Europe. Olfish complies with the Australian Fishery Management Agency's reporting requirements and with the latest European Electronic Reporting System's (ERS) rules (EU 1966/2006 and EU1 566/2007). Olfish can be easily and rapidly customized to match the reporting requirements of any nation, fishery or fishing method.
